New Hope For The Day

Welcome to New Hope for the Day : My Personal Devotional

In the Indian language there is a greeting, 'Namante", which means "I honor the holy one who lives with in you." May you feel welcomed and honored as I share my strengths and weaknesses from my days which turn into years. I share from my heart, my spirit with HIS wisdom; never acknowledging that I have arrived, but always pressing towards the mark to be more like HIM.

If you are going to be used by God, He will take you through a multitude of experiences that are not meant for you at all, they are meant to make you useful in His hands."
Oswald Chambers

Please feel free to grab that cup of joe, or in my case a cup of hot chocolate, turn on some beautiful music, pull up a warm blanket, and let us together live life.

Thank you for "tuning in". I hope your day is wonderful and may HE bring you new hope for this day.

Make the Switch on the Spot

Today’s Truth: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 (KJV)

Peep to Peep
Turning to God for EVERY NEED during my prayer time has taught me, BUT HAVE RECENTLY FORGOT that as soon as I replace my tendency to panic at the first hint of any problem with God's strength--and I'd make the switch on the spot through prayer!

I could not sleep, I tossed and turned and thought all night about a situation that my husband and I have been discussing for several weeks. Relationships are very important to us, BUT sometimes you just don’t click with people. Nothing against those that we don’t click with, we still love them.

Jesus had peeps, his twelve disciples. Do you think He clicked with all of them? Did He have to "tolerate" certain ones? Did He have personality "conflicts"?

I think fondly now of a situation in my past where, my husband and I had "conflict" with someone. I personally, arrived at a point where I just really did not like the person and had a huge inner struggle. I am happy to say that some how HE worked the entire situation out for all of our goods, for now this person is one of our bestest friends.

One thing I have learned to recognize, that when "conflicts" begin to rise up around me, we are making strides in the advancing the Kingdom and He is going to teach me something new. Currently, I am sensing “conflict” in all directions.

Let’s Pray
Lord, first forgive me for not bringing this problem to you first. Lord, I foremost want to see people through Your eyes and love people as You love them. As I have given You this situation, I ask Lord that You continue to work it out. Give me words of wisdom and words of understanding. Let me be teachable. In the future, as soon as I see a problem help me to remember to switch to You on the spot. In all areas of my life Lord, I thank You that You go before me and are fighting my battles and preparing the way. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

Dreams, Goals and Visions

Today’s Truth: “I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 12:1

Peep to Peep
When you come to the Lord Jesus to seek His will for your life, which of the following requests more closely resembles the way you generally ask? (1) “Lord, what do you want me to do? When do You want me to do it? How long shall I do it? Where shall I do it? Whom do You want me to involve along the way? And please tell me what the outcome will be.” (2) “Lord, as You go with me, tell me what to do one step at a time. I will do it.”

Did you pick one, (1)? We always are asking God for a detailed road map. We say. “Lord if You just tell me where I am heading, then I will be able to set my course and go.” We love control don’t we.

The definition of goal is “(1)the state of affairs that a plan is intended to achieve and that (when achieved) terminates behavior intended to achieve it; (2)the place designated as the end; (3) game equipment consisting of the place toward which players of a game try to advance a ball or puck in order to score points a successful attempt at scoring. For this devotional I would like to consider just the first two definitions.

Individuals can set personal goals. A student may set a goal of a high mark in an exam. An athlete might walk five miles a day. A traveler might try to reach a destination-city within three hours. Financial goals are a common example, to save for retirement or to save for a purchase.
Managing goals can give returns in all areas of personal life. Knowing precisely what one wants to achieve makes clear what to concentrate and improve on, and often subconsciously prioritizes that goal.

Goal setting and planning promotes long-term vision and short-term motivation. It focuses intention on what one desires, acquisition of ones own knowledge, and helps to self organize resources.

Efficient goal work includes recognizing and resolving any self guilt, inner conflict within self or limiting one’s beliefs about self that might cause one to sabotage one’s own efforts. By setting clearly-defined goals, one can subsequently measure and take pride in one’s own achievement of those goals. One can see progress in what might have seemed a long, perhaps impossible, grind.

Everyone is encouraged to set goals. Matter of fact if one does not have goals in the corporate world or in this worlds system in general they are frowned upon and looked at as if they have no direction in life or are not productive people in life. Boy, what a stressful burden to put on people and label them by.

I would like to introduce you to another word that does not revolve around self and one’s own efforts, knowledge, abilities, and ambitions. This word is vision.

Vision is (1)a vivid mental image; (2)sight: the ability to see; (3)the visual faculty the perceptual experience of seeing; (4)imagination: the formation of a mental image of something that is not perceived as real and is not present to the senses; (5) a religious or mystical experience of a supernatural appearance. All of these could be applicable, but I want to focus on number four, (4). As you reread that definition, keep in mind that faith is the evidence of things not seen.

He says, “You don’t need to. You need to follow Me one day at a time.” I shared this lifestyle with a group of ladies this past week. When I was asked what my goals are for the year I stated, “I don’t have any goals, I have a vision.” I was paid the greatest compliment from a young lady in her eighties, “This kind of a response comes from someone who has learned to walk closely with God and to trust Him to care for the details of their lives.” This is so true. I have and I am so thankful for the Lords acknowledgment through her lips.

We need to come to the place where the second, (2) response is ours. Who really knows the way for you to go to fulfill God’s purpose for your life? Who knows how you can experience abundant life? God. Jesus said, “I am the way” (John 14:6). He did not say, “I will show you the way.” He did not say, “I will give you a road map.” He did not say, “I will tell you which direction to go.” He said, “I am the way.” Jesus knows the way; He is your way.

If you do everything Jesus tells you one day at a time, will you always be in the center of where God wants you to be? Yes!! If you follow Jesus one day at a time, you will be right in the center of God’s will for your life.

Whenever you get to the place in your life where you trust Jesus to guide you one step at a time, you will experience tremendous freedom. If you don’t trust Him to guide you this way, what happens if you don’t know the way you should go with your life? You get confused. You worry every time you make a decision. You become immobilized with worry. This is not the way God intends for you to live.

I have found that when I live within my daily time frame, when I release my way to God then I respond to everything He tells me each day and by the end of the year I have accomplished more than I have ever have with goals set by me. He gives me plenty to do to fill every day with meaning and purpose. If I do what He says, I am in the center of His will when He wants to use me for signs, wonders, miracles - special assignments! My primary concern should not be What should I do with my life tomorrow? but, What does God want me to do now? today? As you follow Jesus one day at a time, He will keep you in the center of His will. I love being in the center of my Daddy’s universe! Will you join me?

"Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. " Matthew 6:33-34

Let’s Pray
Lord, forgive me for not trusting in You. Lord, forgive me for trying to control ___________. I release my control and desires to You. I choose to give my life, my ambitions, my knowledge and my abilities to You every day. I choose to live each moment that is given to me in the day that it is in. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
